How has working with the video game impacted your knowledge of science and math?

I have had to research a specific topic in Earth Science in order to learn the concepts that I need to incorporate into my science video game.

Day 4 Afternoon

Working with students to create a video game can be frustrating when things don't work right. I must remember to be patient and allow the student to try things again.

Day 4 Morning

What do you do well when interacting with your students?

I generally get along great with my students because I love being with kids. I think I do a good job of putting them at ease quickly, and we usually form positive relationships early on in the year.

Concerns I have generally involve students who do not cooperate.

Day 3 Quitting Time

Today I had some frustrating issues but some accomplishments as well. I find it disconcerting to have random guns showing up in my world that I didn't program to be there. I also had some physics issues that I couldn't seem to fix and had to get Oliver to bail me out.

Day 3

Morning:

What interested you in video games as a form of teaching?

Almost all my students play video games and enjoy them, so I figured games would add to the students' enjoyment and interest levels for learning new academic concepts.

Day 1 Afternoon

How do you currently use technology in your classroom?

I have four computers in my classroom, all of which are internet accessible. We use these computers for email, research, word processing and data bases and spreadsheets. We also create slide shows with PowerPoint.
